Madison earned her Doctorate of Physical Therapy from Columbia University. During her time at Columbia, Madison took elective courses in performing arts, foot and ankle, sports, and pelvic floor. She was a member of the Columbia Dance Research Team with whom she had the opportunity to present their research “Coping Mechanisms and Psychological Factors in dancers” at the Performing Arts Medical Association Symposium and the American Physical Therapy Association’s Combined Sections Meeting. Madison also volunteered with CanWarriors, an exercise based pediatric oncology program during her time at Columbia. Madison received her Bachelors of Science in Health and Exercise Science with a concentration in Sports Medicine from Colorado State University.
Madison has clinical experience treating spinal cord, amputee, post-mastectomy, post-surgical, TMJ, running, and sport populations in outpatient orthopedics and inpatient neurologic settings. She also has experience working with many different artists, performers, and dancers from her clinical rotation at Spear Physical Therapy – Times Square. In the middle of PT school, Madison severely injured her ankle which required surgery and extensive physical therapy. This provided her the unique opportunity to approach the recovery process as a patient, dancer, and physical therapist. Madison is trained in tap, jazz, contemporary, ballet, and musical theater. She has experience working backstage as a theater technician, acting and performing onstage, and choreographing musicals. Madison also taught dance throughout her time at CSU to students aged 3-18. Madison’s desire to combine her background in the performing arts, her personal history with PT, and her interests in movement of the human body led her to pursue a career as a physical therapist.
Madison continues to take tap classes at local studios around NYC.
