Marissa fell in love with hand therapy roughly 8 years ago. She started out by volunteering at an outpatient clinic on Long Island. Almost immediately she was offered a position as a therapist aide and was there for 3 years. She observed many trauma cases and was fascinated by the recovery process, from the intricate anatomy to the collaboration and trust between patient and therapists. She pursued her clinical rotations in hand therapy and has been in occupational therapy practice since 2020. Marissa also has experience working with geriatric clients both in living facilities and in home care. With her geriatric clients, she spent ample time focusing on postural deformities and osteoarthritis conditions. She believes one of the most important tools to help her clients succeed in therapy is communication and forming a therapist-client relationship. She loves watching the progression of her clients until they ultimately reach their goals. Outside of work, some of Marissa’s favorite things to do are hike, travel, eat different cuisines, and take care of her plants.
