Marissa is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with approximately 4 years of experience in the field of mental health. Marissa is originally from the South Jersey area, and has recently moved back to the area from North Carolina after 8 years of changing duty stations as a military spouse. She received her master’s degree in social work from The Catholic University of America. She has experience facilitating groups and navigating case management/discharge planning on adult inpatient psychiatric units, and most recently has been working as a licensed therapist for an outpatient behavioral health clinic in Pinehurst, NC. Marissa is also a fully certified Pilates instructor, with comprehensive mat and equipment training from The Kane School of Core Integration in NYC. She has been teaching since 2014. Prior to finding her draw to social work, Marissa pursued a professional dance career. Needless to say, Marissa highly values the mind/body connection, and is excited for the opportunity to bring both of her areas of practice under one roof at South Jersey Coping Clinic. Marissa has experience working with adolescents and adults who struggle with depression, anxiety, grief, patterns of disordered eating, obsessive thoughts, struggles related to the military lifestyle, and adjustment issues. She also has experience working specifically with individuals struggling with fertility, prenatal, and postpartum issues. Marissa's goal is to create and hold a safe space for you to process your thoughts, emotions, and behaviors so that you can learn how to not only cope, but to create an empowered version of yourself moving forward.
