Hi there, my name is Markia Hearst and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) who works with adults. I earned my Bachelor’s degree in Social Work from South Carolina State University (Go Bulldogs!). I then earned a Master’s degree in Social Work from the University of South Carolina where I focused on practice with individuals, families, and groups.
I specialize in treating PTSD, specifically caused by sexual abuse, domestic violence, racism, and sexual orientation discrimination. I also treat depression, anxiety, parenting, and women’s issues. I have a heart for serving urban communities and strive to make therapy accessible to my community. I am LGBTQ+ affirmative and I honor the uniqueness of every client I serve. I utilize TF-CBT, CBT, DBT, mindfulness, wellness, and holistic approaches. I am always learning.
My previous experience includes working in the nonprofit sector with children and families impacted by child sexual abuse and domestic violence. I believe in the power of human connection and value each client’s life experience. My approach is gentle and honest, and I seek to create a safe, peaceful space for healing.
