Melanie will treat you with caring and empathy, providing a safe space to work through your life struggles, including interpersonal and relationship challenges. She'll serve as a guide, working from the perspective that you are the expert in your own life.
Melanie treats a wide variety of mental health concerns for children and adults, both individually and within families. Her therapy style combines components of multiple modalities, including but not limited to Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Person-Centered Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Positive Psychology, and Motivational Interviewing. She believes that an eclectic approach is the best way to provide quality care tailored to each person's unique needs.
With a Bachelor's degree in Social and Behavioral Sciences from the University of Southern Maine and a Master's degree in Counseling from Southern New Hampshire University, Melanie has worked in the mental health field for more than 20 years. She has provided care to youth (ages 5-18), adults, and families, as well as adults with severe and persistent mental illness and co-occurring disorders. Melanie believes all individuals possess inherent strengths and can learn to identify and utilize them to fulfill their personal goals.
