Dr. Adams is a compassionate and insightful Psychiatrist. I have not been in therapy for a number of years for a variety of reasons. I was concerned that I would have difficulty connecting with a Psychiatrist. Dr. Adams put me at ease by listening to my problems without judgement. He offered suggestions and options which were reasonable. I look forward to continuing my treatment with him.

With a keen understanding that each person seeking my assistance is unique and complex, my priority is getting to know every patient in depth. My therapeutic approach is humanistic, and I treat each patient with kindness and compassion. I have extensive experience with a wide range of people, including members of the LGBT community.
I am a board certified psychiatrist with over 20 years of successful experience in treating people with emotional problems. I went to medical school at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine where I also did my residency in psychiatry. In addition to my private practice, I am an Assistant Professor of Clinical Psychiatry at the Cornell Weil Medical Center. I have worked in a variety of hospital settings, including both inpatient units and outpatient clinics. Consistent with my philosophy that there is a therapeutic advantage in understanding patients from multiple perspectives, I continue my education at the Institute for Psychoanalytic Training and Research (IPTAR).
An initial consultation consists of a one hour interview designed to obtain a current psychological assessment and an in-depth understanding of the issues confronting the patient. I work collaboratively with my patients to develop strategies to gain insight into their psychological functioning with the goal of improving the quality of their lives. My expertise in psychopharmacology permits me to individualize treatment and prescribe medications when appropriate. Sensitive to the concerns people have about side effects, I work closely with patients to arrive at a well-tolerated treatment plan. I am also committed to using psychotherapy to help patients remove obstacles that impede self realization.
My office is conveniently located on W. 72nd St. with access to the #1, 2 and 3 Subway lines.
