Misty Kirby is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in Kentucky who has been practicing since 2004. Misty holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work from Eastern Kentucky University, as well as a Master’s Degree in Marriage and Family Counseling from Liberty University. Misty presents with a warm but straight forward approach while practicing a strength-based and person-centered approach to therapy. She is able to build rapport quickly which allows for a therapeutically appropriate relationship between therapist and client. Misty is trained in Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART), an evidence-based approach designed to help individuals quickly and effectively process and resolve trauma and distressing emotions. Misty also offers Cognitive Behavioral Therapy which encourages accountability with the client while empowering them to make healthy choices for their own lives. Misty began her career working with families and children with the Department for Community Based Services and counseling children in foster care. She went on to work at a Day Treatment Center for more than a decade providing individual and group counseling to delinquent adolescents and teenagers and their families. Misty has experience with Hospice care specializing in grief, loss and bereavement counseling for patients who have been diagnosed with a terminal illness. Misty also specializes in working with those who are struggling with anxiety, depression, trauma, low self-esteem, experiencing life transitions and deficits in coping skills. Misty has been blessed with an amazingly supportive family and group of friends with whom she enjoys spending her free time. She loves her dogs, UK sports, and practicing yoga and meditation as a way of personal self-care.

After hitting a hard spot as an adult, I became acquainted with Misty during couples therapy. I was always skeptical about therapy. In fact I told people all the time I don’t have a problem talking to anyone so how would therapy help? Misty quickly proved how beneficial therapy could be. She was easy to connect with and made each therapy session feel like a true safe place. I 10/10 recommend Misty to anyone!!!!
