Nicole’s passion went into practice after entering the mental health field in 2013. Nicole is an alumna of the University of Northern Iowa, where she earned her Bachelor’s of Science in Psychology, minor in Family Studies, and a Masters of Arts in Mental Health Counseling. She gained unparalleled experience by working closely with Indiana’s child welfare and juvenile justice system for approximately 8 years. Nicole is most passionate about working with individuals and families impacted by abuse and neglect, acute/chronic/complex trauma, racial trauma, sexually harmful behaviors, depression, anxiety, poor self-image, attachment issues, adjustment disorders, stress, challenges in interpersonal relationships, phase of life stressors, disruptions in marriage and family functioning, and exploring the purpose and meaning of life. Nicole is also interested in creative therapies and mental health advocacy for people of color.
Driven by ethics, creativity, and humor, Nicole takes pride in creating a safe space that genuinely accepts and respects one’s life experiences. She believes therapy should be an “experience” that allows people the unique opportunity to regain focus of the part of them so often lost in the noise of others. Life, responsibility, and finding matching socks is hard enough, therapy shouldn’t have to be, too. At least not all the time ??
Nicole is recognized as a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Texas. She is also a Licensed Mental Health Counselor and Credentialed Sexually Abusive Youth Clinician in the state of Indiana. She received extensive training in Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavior Therapy (TF-CBT) and Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR). Outside of the office, Nicole enjoys listening to music, connecting with family and friends, traveling, and exploring new personal and professional interests and hobbies.
