Hello my name is Princetta Edwards, I am a Licensed Cliental Social Worker who has been in practice for 25 plus years. I work with individuals, couples, families in a none judgmental manner to allow them to feel free, open and transparent with me. Although, I gain history from them, I use the "here and now" therapeutic approach to focus on the reason they came to me.
My approach
I use current issues that brought one to me while gaining history of their developmental environment. I listen for their personal interactions, behaviors that affect their daily lifestyle in a traumatic manner and what prevents coping while evaluating levels of emotional disorders.
My focus
In my years of private practice, I have worked with a wide range of disorders and complicated personalities. I have learned I am most comfortable with grief, anxiety, PTSD, dysfunctional families. individuals, couples, transgenders, gays and lesbians, bisexuals behavior's lifestyles. I am not comfortable with sex offenders, eating disorders or ex-prisoners.
My communication style
My tone is friendly, warm and soft with a non judgmental opening, inviting comfort that shows passion regarding their concerns. This unperceptive approach of evaluation places the client on an equative level of emotional status that directs me to understand and guide them to feel free and transparent with me.
My journey to mental healthcare
I grew up in a family and community of caretakers, my mother was a nurse and my father was a minister. At first I wanted to be a nurse like my mother; but, I found listening more attractive. While in college, I learned about clinical social work, and that is where I found my passion.
My goals for you
My initial approach is to allow the client to direct me to their emotional concerns. I ask questions and I listen to their responses, this allows me to determine their capabilities and apply methods that would improve their situations.
