Hi there, I'm Rachel!
My name is Rachel. I am an LCSW and am licensed in Illinois. I specialize in trauma, substance use, couples, and family therapy.
My approach
I use CBT and EMDR, along with relapse prevention, with talk therapy. I use the Gottman method for couples.
My focus
I work a lot with trauma clients and those with substance use issues. I also help couples in crisis.
My communication style
I have an open door policy. I love to laugh and have found that humor is great when used appropriately. I also am a very positive person and use empathy to relate to the clients.
My journey to therapy
I have always been a person that others come to with their problems. I have had family members who have experienced trauma and grief. I have life experience that has shown me both sides of mental health. That is why I love what I do.
My goals for you
I try to let the client set the pace for the goals. I just ask what the client wants to accomplish and how they will know when they are finished with counseling. I also present the magic question:"If you woke up tomorrow and your problem was solved, what would be the first thing that you would notice is different."
My first session with you
I do a complete assessment in the first session. I try to do a treatment plan that day too, but that may be in the second session. I also ask for complete honesty, and I will give the same.
