Dinora Lopez, LPC

Psychotherapist
155 N. Michigan Ave, Ste. 201, Chicago, IL
Dinora Lopez is a pre-licensed provider working under the supervision of a licensed practitioner. My passion for helping others began early in my life. I became a therapist because I have always felt called to support people and make a meaningful, positive impact in their lives. I have always been the kind of person who listens deeply, cares wholeheartedly, and finds true purpose in connecting with others. Becoming a therapist felt like a natural path because it gives me the opportunity to walk alongside people during some of the most important and vulnerable parts of their journey. Over time, I have seen how powerful it can be to have someone truly see you, hear you, and believe in your ability to grow. I knew I wanted to offer that experience to others. My own therapeutic journey has shaped the way I show up in this work. Experiencing firsthand how healing, grounding, and empowering therapy can be inspired me to create a space where others can heal, reflect, and build confidence in themselves. As a therapist, I am passionate about helping my clients feel supported, understood, and encouraged as they move toward the life they want to lead.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I work primarily with young adults and adults, supporting them through anxiety, depression, life transitions, stress management, identity development, self-esteem challenges, and acculturation or cultural stress. I’m drawn to this stage of life because it often involves navigating questions of identity, significant transitions, and personal growth, which align closely with my clinical interests and strengths. I aim to provide a supportive and understanding space where clients can explore their experiences, reflect on challenges, and develop skills to manage stress and build confidence.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

I strive to create a warm, welcoming, and nonjudgmental space where you can share openly and feel met with empathy and respect. My approach is client-centered. You are the expert in your own life, and my role is to meet you where you are and support you every step of the way. Healing happens through connection, which is why I prioritize building a strong, trusting therapeutic relationship with you. I show up authentically in session to create a space where you can feel safe, seen, and encouraged to do the same. I take an integrative approach, tailoring evidence-based interventions to your unique needs and goals. You can expect me to be compassionate, consistent, and flexible, while also bringing curiosity, humor, and cultural humility into our work together. As a first-generation Latina, I understand the cultural and emotional complexities of balancing multiple identities and expectations. This perspective inspires me to provide a culturally affirming space where you can explore your story without fear or shame. My goal is for you to leave each session feeling more connected to yourself, more confident in your abilities, and empowered to continue your growth beyond our time together.
