More about Rachel Liebman, LMHC
Rachel Liebman, M.A., LMHC, is psychotherapist who has been working with adults, adolescents, and children for over 10 years. Her range of experience includes treatment for anxiety, depression, trauma, relational difficulties, and LGBTQ+ related issues. Rachel also has experience working with children with ADHD, Autism Spectrum Disorder, and behavioral challenges. Additionally, she works with parents and has facilitated several parenting groups for parents whose children struggle with these issues.
Rachel utilizes evidence-based therapies, including CBT, using a strength-based lens, while also helping her clients develop skills such as effective coping skills, emotional regulation, and a mind-body connection. She believes that a supportive, accepting therapeutic environment is the key to a client’s personal growth and change.
At the heart of her work with clients is Rachel’s belief in her client’s ability to heal and manage their symptoms. Through strong therapeutic relationships Rachel helps her clients feel empowered to engage in self-care and self-acceptance.
Rachel graduated summa cum laude from Tufts University with a double major in Psychology and International Relations, receiving high thesis honors for her research on college adjustment, substance abuse, and eating disorders. Rachel went on to earn her M.A. in Mental Health Counseling at Boston College, and completed her training toward licensure while working at HELP USA’s domestic violence shelter in New York City.
She also worked at My Sisters’ Place in Westchester County for several years, and in the New York City public schools, providing mental health counseling and group counseling to children and adolescents. This year, Rachel completed a postgraduate training in Perinatal Mood and Anxiety Disorders, through the Postpartum Stress Center in Pennsylvania. And most recently, Rachel worked at The Child and Family Institute in Scarsdale, NY.
