“The journey of a thousand miles begins with the first step,” and I’m so very glad that you’re here.
My name is Ress, and my goal as a therapist is to walk alongside you as we navigate this journey together, pulling a chuckle or two out of you along the way. I personally believe smiles and laughter are powerful tools to use in therapy.
We all have stories, and it would be an absolute honor to listen to yours—the happy, the sad, the angry, the mundane—and everything in between to find out where you’ve been and where you’d like to go next. I believe that as the client, you are the expert of your life, and I am here to provide you with the support and tools you need to make positive, sustainable changes to propel you forward.
My clinical style involves a person-centered, strengths-based approach as a means to empower my clients to recall past moments of resiliency and fortitude in order to bring that same confidence to the here and now. I incorporate humor, empathy, and self-compassion in tandem with my passion for serving others to provide a safe, warm space for clients to learn more about themselves and connect with their values, passions, thoughts, behaviors, and emotions.
I earned my Master’s in Social Work from the University of Illinois Chicago, which has equipped me with the knowledge and skills to support clients across the lifespan. I have a particular passion for supporting adolescents and adults seeking relief from generalized anxiety, social anxiety, depression, perfectionism, self-worth and esteem issues, OCD, life challenges, and major life changes.
Additionally, I am deeply dedicated to providing mental health services for those belonging to the LGBTQIA+ community, BIPOC individuals, and other marginalized populations, drawing upon my own personal experiences as well as past work with these communities.
