Getting to know Rob Tyler Parrott

*After booking, you will receive a link via IntakeQ so you can complete required intake forms prior to your appointment.* Relationships shape how you experience the world. When they feel disconnected, stagnant, or full of conflict, life can feel frustrating and unfulfilling. Whether you're struggling with communication, intimacy, trust, or repeated relationship patterns, therapy can help you break free from what's holding you back. I specialize in working with individuals and couples navigating relationship challenges, career pressures, and life transitions. If you feel stuck-whether in your marriage, dating life, family dynamics, or personal growth-you don't have to figure it out alone. Many high-achieving professionals struggle to balance ambition with meaningful relationships. It's easy to get caught up in work only to realize your personal life is suffering. If you feel disconnected from your partner or stuck in repetitive conflicts, I'll help you develop deeper emotional awareness, improve communication, and rebuild connection. For those facing infidelity, separation, or uncertainty about the future of their relationship, I offer both traditional couples therapy and discernment counseling to help you gain clarity on the best path forward. I hold a Master's in Social Work from Hunter College, City University of New York, and have completed advanced training with certificates from the New York School for Psychoanalytic Studies and The Couples Institute. Additionally, I completed a fellowship in Psychodynamic Psychotherapy at the Karen Horney Clinic, which informs my approach to helping clients explore underlying emotional patterns and foster lasting change.

What should a new client know about working with you?

Therapy with me is dynamic and insight-driven. I use psychodynamic therapy, the Gottman Method, and emotionally focused approaches to explore how your past experiences shape your current relationships. For individuals dealing with relational trauma, longstanding personality patterns, or chronic dissatisfaction, I integrate object relations, self-psychology, and relational therapy to help you experience yourself in new, more fulfilling ways. Sessions are a collaborative space where we identify unhelpful patterns, explore emotions in real time, and work toward meaningful change.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

My experience includes working with young adults, professionals, and couples striving to create deeper, more fulfilling relationships. Through my training at the Karen Horney Clinic, the Training Institute for Mental Health, and advanced certifications in psychoanalytic and psychodynamic therapy, I provide a nuanced and tailored approach to each client. If you're ready to move past frustration and toward real growth, reach out to schedule an intro call.

    Great initial visit.

Fantastic therapist who really listens to you! Gave me new perspectives on issues i was going through, will definitely be having another appointment with him. Thank you.

The interview was unstructured. He pretty much started with "so tell me about yourself." I have attention issues and anxiety, so if you ask me open ended questions like this, I give rambling unfocused answers. But he didn't know this because he took no clinical history and no notes. I felt like I spent half an hour (yes, half hour) just aimlessly talking. I will not be seeing this practitioner again.
I've been a client of his for two years. He is kind, empathic and attentive. He's professional when necessary but has a warm disposition and always ensures that I am comfortable. He is the first and only therapist I have met with and am very happy to continue working with him.
    Excellent!
    Professional & pleasant.
I very much enjoyed meeting Tyler. He was very understanding and listened to everything I said and stayed very much "tuned in" to what I was saying. I look forward to my next meeting!
