Getting to know Rocio Rodriguez-Morales

* After forms are completed, you will receive instructions to join the video appointment.* The provider is a Supervisee in Clinical Social Work. As a bilingual therapist (English/Spanish) and military spouse, I bring both professional training and lived experience to my work with individuals and families. I hold a Master of Social Work from George Mason University and have spent my career supporting military-connected families through some of life’s most difficult transitions—including medical discharge, retirement, and the often-overwhelming adjustment to civilian life. I understand the unique emotional, logistical, and relational stressors that come with military service—frequent moves, separation from loved ones, shifts in identity, and the pressure to stay strong for others. My work is grounded in empathy and guided by a trauma-informed approach that centers your voice, your values, and your goals for healing. I provide a safe, supportive environment for clients to work through anxiety, depression, grief, trauma, family or relationship challenges, and major life transitions. I also specialize in family-centered care, helping spouses and children build resilience, strengthen communication, and adapt in healthy ways to change and uncertainty. My approach is warm, collaborative, and nonjudgmental. I believe in honoring the full person—not just their struggles—and I work to empower clients with practical tools, emotional insight, and renewed confidence. Therapy with me is a space where healing happens through compassion, connection, and growth. Whether you are seeking individual, couples, or family counseling, I am here to walk alongside you on your path toward greater well-being. I offer telehealth services that are flexible, secure, and designed to meet you where you are.

What should a new client know about working with you?

Your appointment will be cancelled or rescheduled if you do not complete your intake forms through Zocdoc prior to your appointment. As a therapist, my priority is creating a warm, welcoming space where you feel safe, respected, and truly heard. Whether this is your first time in therapy or you're returning after past experiences, I want you to know that therapy with me is a judgment-free zone. I believe in meeting clients where they are—emotionally, culturally, and personally—so we can move forward at a pace that feels right for you. I am bilingual in English and Spanish and bring a multicultural lens to all of my work. My approach is trauma-informed and person-centered, which means I honor your lived experiences and tailor sessions to your unique needs. You can expect me to be compassionate, calm, and present, while also gently encouraging you to explore patterns, gain insight, and develop tools that support your emotional health and everyday life. As a military spouse, I have a deep understanding of the challenges faced by service members, veterans, and their families. If you're dealing with transitions such as deployment, retirement, medical discharge, or relocation stress, know that I bring both personal empathy and professional training to support you. I also work closely with spouses and children, helping families strengthen communication, connection, and resilience. In our work together, you can expect me to listen carefully, ask meaningful questions, and partner with you to identify goals that are empowering and realistic. Whether you're facing anxiety, depression, relationship concerns, or simply navigating a life change, I see therapy as a collaborative journey—and I’m honored to walk alongside you. My telehealth sessions are designed to be accessible and convenient, especially for individuals and families with busy lives or those in remote areas. I welcome you to come as you are, and I look forward to helping you find strength, clarity, and healing

What is your typical process for working with clients?

My process begins by building a foundation of trust, safety, and collaboration. In our first session, I’ll spend time getting to know you—not just the concerns that brought you to therapy, but also your strengths, values, and what wellness means to you. We’ll talk about your goals for therapy, any past counseling experiences you’ve had, and what you hope to gain from our time together. I’ll answer your questions and explain what you can expect from the process so you feel informed and supported from the start. Each session is a space where you can show up as your full self—without pressure, shame, or judgment. I take a gentle but focused approach. This means I’ll help you explore thoughts and feelings at a pace that feels comfortable, while also guiding you toward insight and growth. I may incorporate mindfulness, grounding tools, values-based work, and culturally sensitive strategies depending on your needs. With clients navigating anxiety, depression, grief, or trauma, I often integrate elements of trauma-informed care, cognitive behavioral strategies, and strengths-based support to help you better understand your experiences and build practical coping skills. If you're a military family or transitioning from military to civilian life, I provide space to process the unique stressors that come with those changes, and offer support tailored to your journey. For couples and families, our work focuses on improving communication, increasing understanding, and creating shared goals for change. Consistency is important in therapy, so I encourage regular sessions to build momentum and help you integrate new insights into daily life. Over time, you’ll begin to notice changes—whether it’s improved emotional regulation, better relationships, or a deeper sense of self-understanding. Above all, I want you to know that therapy is your space—and I’m here to walk alongside you with care and respect every step of the way.
