Shannon Wagner, LCSW

Psychotherapist
NY
Hi, I’m a licensed clinical social worker offering supportive, focused care to individuals across New York State. I specialize in ADHD evaluations and ADHD-focused therapy, helping clients better understand their attention, motivation, and executive functioning. I also provide therapy for obsessive-compulsive disorders, anxiety, stress, mood disorders, and trauma-related disorders. My approach is practical, collaborative, and goal-oriented — most clients work with me for around 5–6 sessions and leave with tools that make daily life more manageable. I offer telehealth statewide and will begin seeing clients in person in Schenectady by the end of the year. I’m in-network with Aetna, Cigna, Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield (and affiliates), Carelon (commerical only), and BCBS of Massachusetts. Whether you're exploring an ADHD diagnosis or looking for strategies to manage life more effectively, I’d be honored to support you.

What should a new client know about working with you?

My work is highly client-centered — sessions are guided by your needs, your pace, and what feels most helpful to you. I approach each session with curiosity, kindness, compassion, and a healthy dose of humor. Therapy with me is more of a conversation than a checklist, and together we’ll create a space where you feel safe to be honest, explore, and grow. If you’re coming to me for an ADHD evaluation, we’ll start with a full conversation about your general background and mental health history, followed by a deep dive into your attention, focus, and executive functioning. I use a combination of structured rating scales and in-depth discussion to get a clear picture of what’s going on. You’ll walk away with a thoughtful, personalized assessment — not just a form with boxes checked.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

After you book your appointment, you’ll receive a separate email with a link to complete intake paperwork through Headway and Therapy Notes. There are secure portals that I use with all of my clients. Please complete the forms at least 48 hours before your session.
