My name is Sierra, and I’m a licensed clinical social worker. I’m originally from South Africa, and have lived in CO since 2004. I hope to work with adult clients living a life that is something to tolerate, rather than to enjoy. It’s difficult to be at peace when so many moments feel like a hurdle, and the goal of our work together is to redevelop your quality of life. A strong therapeutic alliance between counselor and client sets the foundation for healing and growth, and this informs my holistic approach which will be unique to your needs. I am a strengths-based, solution-focused, trauma-informed therapist that recognizes your inherent capacity for change and how your past life experiences have contributed to your present. We collaborate with the understanding that we each bring different tools to your treatment plan; you are the expert in you, even if it doesn’t always feel like it, and I am here to support you by bringing my clinical expertise. I have benefited from therapy as a client, and because my experience in therapy was so transformative, I feel called to help others find equilibrium.
I have experience working with clients struggling with a myriad of concerns, but specialize in trauma and stressor-related disorders, anxiety disorders, depressive/mood disorders, LGBTQIA+, chronic illness including end of life, and grief. I have developed an approach drawing from multiple therapeutic techniques including cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavioral therapy, and internal family systems parts work. Additionally, I have completed Phase One training in Brainspotting developed by Dr. David Grand, a revolutionary approach to helping clients with a multitude of concerns. I greatly look forward to working with you.
