I am a fierce advocate for mental health and a collaborative counselor. I am a firm believer that clients are the experts of their own lived experiences and, therefore, are already armed with the tools they need to start their healing journey - it just might take some empowering and empathic listening to help get there. Together, my clients and I work on building rapport, which I believe is the most important part of counseling. I enjoy uplifting and supporting clients, while also challenging their ways of thinking, making me a non-judgmental and compassionate, but realistic, sounding board. My therapeutic style is influenced by person-centered therapy (Rogerian), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), and mindfulness, which have all been clinically proven to foster positive changes in thinking, alleviate symptoms, and improve client mood and overall quality of life.
I obtained my master's degree in clinical mental health, and an undergraduate degree in psychology, from Montclair State University and completed my field work at an inpatient drug and alcohol rehab facility. I am passionate about working with those who struggle with substance abuse, anxiety and depression, as well as other mood and personality disorders. I am currently working on becoming a licensed professional counselor (LPC) in the state of New Jersey as well as a Certified Dialectical Behavioral Therapist (C-DBT)
In my spare time, I enjoy reading, roller skating, petting dogs, watching movies and TV, and spending time with my loved ones.
