Stephen Xue believes strongly in the power of collaboration, effective communication, and evidence-based interventions for helping individuals recover from injury and reach their movement goals. He is a proponent of individualized plans of care and works hard to create a safe and welcoming treatment environment for people of all backgrounds.
Stephen was born in Brooklyn and raised in Shanghai, China. He received his BA from Vassar College where he studied dance and media. Following his undergraduate studies, he worked as Company Manager of an internationally touring modern dance company for five years before taking his passion for movement into the realm of healthcare. Stephen then received his Doctor of Physical Therapy degree from Columbia University.
As a runner, dancer, and rock climber, Stephen has special interest in treating injuries and conditions commonly experienced during these activities, including patellofemoral pain, IT band syndrome, chronic ankle sprain, hip impingement, and rotator cuff tendinopathy. He draws from his clinical experience at Columbia’s RunLab where he assessed both professional and amateur runners via hands-on examination and video analysis.
Stephen is a strength and conditioning specialist certified by the National Strength and Conditioning Association. He holds memberships in the American Physical Therapy Association and the Academy of Orthopaedic Physical Therapy.
