Whether you are facing a new crisis or resolving previous issues my empathetic and non judgmental therapeutic style will help you feel comfortable in our work together. Hope is restored as options are considered and new patterns of thinking are exposed. Feeling better is possible as you are willing to risk change and let go of self defeating beliefs.
During my over twenty-five years in the field, I have helped individuals, couples, and families alleviate suffering. An individualized therapeutic treatment plan is designed to suit each client's needs and personality. I include a multi modal approach with evidence-based practices, that incorporate cognitive behavioral therapies (CBT).
I work with adolescent and adults and have received comprehensive training in divorce mediation and parental coordination and conducted many court ordered custody evaluations, co-parenting counseling, parenting skills training, therapeutic supervised visitation and reunification therapy. I am on the Mental Health Professionals Panel for the First and Second Judicial departments and have appeared as an expert witness in Nassau County Family Court.

Mrs. Gavin was excellent at peeling the layers of my daughters topics extremly effectively. Her ability to gain Alexa's trust of confidentalty, realness & guidance enabled my daughter to understand, deal and workout her feelings. Though she is not currently a patient anymore, when my daughter has an issue to discuss she sets up an appointment on her own for her "safe place" for a teenager that's amazing.

My visit with Suzanne has been more than beneficial. I've been a patient of hers for quite some time now. I came to her at a difficult time in my life; and I must say, I've improved since. We don't just discuss the anxiety, anger or depression, Suzanne gets to the root of what causes those negative thoughts and feelings to better equip you for coping. She puts me at ease, and helped me grow into who I am today. I'm lucky to have her as a therapist. I'm positive others feel the same way. She changed my life.
