Dr. Joshua Tal, PhD

Psychologist
NY
I'm a caring and direct psychologist specializing in sleep disorders, especially severe, chronic insomnia. I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Insomnia (CBT-I) to help you get the sleep your body needs. CBT-I is a rapid and effective treatment-in fact, 85% of clients who complete my CBT-I protocol reach their sleep goals in as few as 4-8 sessions. Good night, insomnia. Stop letting your worries or medications dictate your sleep. Let's work together to restart your mind and your body's connection to sleep. I also treat other mood, anxiety, trauma, compulsion, and substance challenges. I empower my clients to increase resilience to stress using manageable steps and inner strengths. Additionally, I address mental health symptoms related to severe health crises such as concussions, stroke, cardiac issues, chronic pain, accidents, COVID-19 trauma, and chronic illness. I earned my PhD in Clinical Psychology from Palo Alto University, completed my internship at Palo Alto Veteran's Affairs Hospital, and hold a Master's from Stanford Medicine and a Bachelor's from McGill University. I studied sleep and evidence-based treatments under top clinicians and researchers at Stanford University and Veterans Affairs hospitals across the country. I help ambitious people overcome their sleep and health problems so they can reach their ambitions.

Our providers are considered “out of network” providers by most insurance companies, meaning we do not participate in any major insurance plans. If your insurance plan includes out of network coverage, you may be able to seek reimbursement for a portion of the cost. When calling your insurance company, please be sure to ask specifically about your “out of network mental health benefits”. We will give you all of the paperwork that you should need in order to obtain reimbursement, but this is entirely between you and your insurance company. All fees are commensurate with the expertise and required dedication towards our specialties, including our level of commitment and education (PhD, LCSW, etc.). As specialists, our fees are in line with the current trends in cost throughout the tri-state area, and cover the cost of phone check ins and texting support throughout the week and the weekend. However, we do reserve a limited number of sliding scale openings to assist to those with significant financial barriers to treatment. Please contact us for more information about our fees.
