Hi there, I'm Thomas!
Hello, my name is Tom Putnam and I'm a licensed professional counselor (LPC). I earned my Master’s in Mental Health Counseling from Idaho State University and have been licensed for over 10 years. I have a passion for helping others make positive changes and overcome challenges. As a counselor, I empower clients to gain insight into emotional challenges, develop coping skills, and foster self-awareness and resilience.
My approach
I find Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) useful, based on the idea that thoughts, feelings, and behaviors are interconnected, and reshaping negative patterns leads to positive change. I also use Humanistic theory, which believes in the inherent worth and growth potential of each individual. I provide a non-judgmental, empathetic space for clients to explore feelings, experiences, and values.
My focus
I cultivate a strong therapeutic relationship built on trust, comfort, and security. Effective counseling requires a safe space where clients can share openly without fear of judgment. I have experience working with individuals facing depression, anxiety, trauma, grief, addiction, divorce, and other challenges.
My communication style
By actively listening, empathizing, and providing targeted, constructive dialogue, I create an atmosphere where clients feel understood and respected. This safety and trust allow clients to explore their inner world, confront challenges, and embark on self-discovery and healing.
