Dr. Barker is a Licensed Clinical Psychologist who practices and provides therapy to ethnically and socioeconomically diverse couples. Furthermore, he offers general psychological services to facilitate treatment for various marital issues, including depression, anxiety, stress management, conflict management, interpersonal difficulties, childhood trauma, and men’s issues. To further aid with treatment, he asks poignant questions to understand better the underlying concerns and collaboratively works with the client to develop a plan of action.
In his clinical experience, he has witnessed the interconnected nature of physical and mental health, so he has also chosen to specialize as a Health Psychologist. Dr. Barker provides evidence-based treatment strategies and methods to assist patients experiencing chronic pain and health issues in their healing process. Specifically, he utilizes mindfulness-based treatment interventions to promote relaxation and reduction of anxiety.
In line with his own spiritual beliefs, Christian counseling is another approach to treatment that allows him to reach and support those members of the Christian community. In his Christian counseling practice, he not only embraces your faith but leverages it throughout the treatment process. Dr. Barker’s treatment modalities include Cognitive Processing Therapy, Cognitive-Behavioral, and solution-focused therapy. His philosophy is to provide a supportive experience where individuals can share and self-discovery without judgment. His overarching goal is to help patients achieve optimal health to lead a balanced and rewarding life. He has the highest regard for individuals’ uniqueness and encourages them to share their personal experiences, aspirations, emotions, beliefs, sexuality, and faith.
