"I saw Dr. Ravichandran for several months, so I will try to provide as balanced and comprehensive review as possible. Dr. Ravichandran obviously is very well educated and has more experience than most psychiatrists. It is easy to book an appointment and you can get appointments quickly, as opposed to booking appointments several months out for many psychiatrists. Dr. Ravichandran has a lot of knowledge about a lot of fields and topics in life. Also, Dr. Ravichandran is probably on the more affordable end for psychiatrists but you have to see him regularly for full benefit. One thing that was cool is that Dr. Ravichandran pointed out why I was having problems (career) and gave me motivation to work hard, and it was uncanny how he realized that so quickly. It gave me food for thought and changed my life direction for the better to be honest. Usually psychiatrists that manage medication do not talk about non medication stuff, in my experience. It may be a positive or negative depending on your case, but in my experience, Dr. Ravichandran tends to be more aggressive with treatment (my pharmacist was surprised at my starting dose) but it might have been because of the severity of my condition and how treatment resistant it was which meant I felt better sooner and the frustration of nothing improving went away soon. However, at the same time, I have always been my entire life extremely sensitive to all medications but of course this all varies on your individual case. Another thing that is positive and negative is that Dr. Ravichandran is very blunt and straightforward with his thoughts which can be refreshing (if you are cool with jokes and bluntness) or unexpected (if you have seen a psychologist or therapist who focuses on being overly optimistic and emotional which - as an aside - is why I prefer CBT and other rational therapies over unhelpful psychodynamic snd emotionally bases therapies). The negatives I would say are that the wait time can be unpredictable. Some times I waited ten minutes, other times over an hour. Additionally, the waiting room has uncomfortable chairs and it can be hard to hear because of the noise, which can be stressful. Also, the building makes my allergies bad. Overall, Dr. Ravichandran helped me with a problem that had been going on for many years and I don't know what I would have done if I had not been able to get a same week appointment. Even if I theoretically did not benefit from any of the medications, I would still have benefited because he pointed out that my anxiety stemmed from career issues and to follow my dreams and that was invaluable. "So the visit with Dr. White.... I went in for a basic psychiatric screening as I had some issues I wanted to look into, and I really want to stress to people out there the difference between Psychiatrist and Psychologist. I've read reviews about her where people say she didn't talk to them or give them therapy or treat them...but that's what a psychologist or therapist is for, not a Psychiatrist. She is diagnosing any mental problems you may be having, not giving you therapy. Anyhow, my visit was pleasant I suppose. Dr. White seems a very knowledgeable doctor, and she prescribed me medication not in the way I had hoped for and explained how one of the medications would worsen a condition I had, so she wanted to calm that condition down before introducing the other medication. That shows she's thinking ahead and about you. Although some people have mentioned a cold or disinterested attitude about her, I felt none of this. There was complaints that she's mostly on her phone or looking at her computer, but that's because she's reading all of the questionnaires you did in the lobby :). Which take forever by the way! Come 30 minutes early if you don't want your appointment cut short because you had to spend 15 minutes of your appointment filling out those questions!! I filled out my paperwork in about 20 I was a bit behind in my appointment. The one really positive thing? I ADORE her lead office receptionist! She's so sweet and friendly! She's also very knowledgeable about her job, and seems really committed to getting her patients in and out and shows a real compassion. She's just so sweet! Dr. White was nice, but I really think her lead receptionist made me feel most at ease and welcome, and is the reason I won't be so grumpy to go back two more times for testing. The only horrible parts? The office seems just money hungry. Everyone who comes in must take a urine test, which I guess I understand, but if your insurance doesn't cover her office, you're looking at spending money for something you already knew, and felt unnecessary and oddly non-negotiable. I just didn't like how I was forced to take a test and be charged for it, when I know I don't take drugs or alcohol, and why does she even need it when I'm being examined for a completely unrelated illness o.o Like not even nearly related.
