Adult Psychiatric & Mental Health Nurse Practitioner
2500 CityWest Blvd., Ste. 150, Houston, TX
Finding the right psychiatric provider can make a meaningful difference in your care. I am a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC) who provides compassionate, evidence-based psychiatric care for children, adolescents, and adults. I commonly work with individuals experiencing ADHD, anxiety, depression, mood disorders, trauma-related symptoms, sleep difficulties, and other mental health concerns. My approach is warm, thorough, collaborative, and individualized. I take time to understand your symptoms, medical and psychiatric history, daily functioning, current stressors, and treatment goals before making recommendations. I believe effective psychiatric care should address not only symptoms, but also how those symptoms are affecting your relationships, work or school performance, sleep, motivation, and overall quality of life. Treatment may include a comprehensive psychiatric evaluation, medication management, supportive therapy, lifestyle recommendations, and coordination with therapists, primary care providers, or other healthcare professionals when appropriate. I place a strong emphasis on education and shared decision-making so you understand your diagnosis, available treatment options, expected benefits, possible side effects, and alternatives. Medication is never viewed as the only part of treatment. When appropriate, I also incorporate principles of cognitive behavioral therapy, trauma-informed care, mindfulness, healthy sleep practices, and wellness strategies to support long-term improvement. Whether you are seeking psychiatric treatment for the first time, struggling with focus and attention, experiencing persistent anxiety or depression, or looking for a thoughtful review of your current medications, my goal is to provide a respectful and nonjudgmental environment where you feel heard and supported. Together, we will develop a treatment plan that is clinically appropriate, practical, and tailored to your individual needs

What should a new client know about working with you?

My approach is warm, collaborative, and clinically thorough. I want you to feel comfortable discussing what is going on without feeling rushed, judged, or reduced to a diagnosis. During our first visit, I will take time to understand your symptoms, medical and psychiatric history, current stressors, daily functioning, and treatment goals. I work with individuals experiencing concerns such as ADHD, anxiety, depression, mood changes, trauma-related symptoms, sleep difficulties, and other mental health conditions. When medication may be helpful, I explain the options clearly, including expected benefits, potential side effects, alternatives, and what we will monitor over time. I also believe medication is only one part of mental health care. When appropriate, I incorporate supportive therapy, psychoeducation, behavioral strategies, sleep and wellness recommendations, and principles from evidence-based approaches such as cognitive behavioral therapy and trauma-informed care. I may also collaborate with your therapist, primary care provider, or other members of your healthcare team when helpful. You can expect our visits to be practical and goal-focused, while still giving you space to ask questions and share concerns. Treatment decisions are made collaboratively, and I encourage you to be an active participant in your care. My goal is to help you better understand what you are experiencing and develop a treatment plan that is safe, realistic, and tailored to your individual needs.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

The initial evaluation is comprehensive and focused on diagnostic clarification, treatment planning, and risk assessment. I review current symptoms, psychiatric and medical history, prior treatment response, medications, sleep, substance use when relevant, family history, psychosocial stressors, and functional impairment. When appropriate, I use structured clinical screening to further evaluate conditions such as ADHD, anxiety disorders, depressive disorders, trauma-related conditions, and mood disorders. I then discuss my clinical impressions, differential diagnosis, and recommended treatment options in clear terms. Treatment may include medication management, psychotherapy recommendations, behavioral interventions, laboratory monitoring, lifestyle modification, or coordination with other members of your healthcare team. When medication is prescribed, I review the rationale, expected benefits, potential adverse effects, alternatives, and monitoring plan. Follow-up visits focus on symptom response, tolerability, safety, functioning, and progress toward treatment goals. I also incorporate supportive therapy and psychoeducation into medication-management visits when clinically appropriate. Patients who would benefit from more intensive psychotherapy may be referred for or co-managed with a therapist.
