Dr Blickenstaff is extremely competent, as is the rest of the staff. I've had reason to second guess maybe half the dentists I've visited over the years, this has never come up in dozens of visits with Dr Blickenstaff. Everyone there does a great job of connecting with patients and setting them at ease.

Dr Blickenstaff earned his DDS from Ohio State University and has been practicing dentistry for over 35 years. After graduation from dental school, he taught in the dental school at OSU while maintaining a private practice in Columbus, Ohio. He has taken numerous hours of continuing education over the years on subjects from cosmetic dentistry, endodontics, oral surgery, neuromuscular dentistry, and dental sleep medicine. He has been doing laser dentistry for over 20 years. He was one of the first dentists in the state to use a Velscope for early oral cancer detection. In 2009, he earned fellowship status from the Las Vegas Institute of Advanced Dental Studies. There are less than 800 dentists worldwide who have achieved this status. He currently teaches part time at Portland Community College in the dental hygiene restorative department. We are not your typical dental office. Although we primarily treat the area in and around your mouth, your mouth is part of your entire body. We look at the affects your dental health is having on your overall health and are committed to helping our patients receive all the necessary treatment to achieve and maintain optimal dental health. Therefore he sees all new patients for a thorough examination before they are seen with the hygienist for a cleaning. This is to ensure proper diagnosis of dental health and to prescribe the appropriate cleaning. For new patients wanting to schedule a cleaning appointment through Zocdoc, please choose dental consultation from the drop down menu. This will schedule an hour comprehensive exam. Once you are scheduled for the initial exam and if you would like a cleaning on the same day, we can schedule an hour cleaning if available.
