I had an excellent visit with Shelia Agullana and her assistant. Bith were very professional, courteous and very informative as to the procedures performed as well as recommendations on future work. I HIGHLY recommend Dental smiles !!!!!!

For Dr. Agullana, dentistry is ultimately a way to improve patients’ overall health and well-being. The most rewarding moments come when she is able to help patients live more comfortably and smile more confidently. Dr. Sheila Agullana is originally from the Philippines. She obtained her dental training from the University of the East, Philippines, graduating with a Doctor of Dental Medicine degree in 1997. Upon completion of her studies, Dr. Agullana volunteered as a dentist for the medical and dental missions conducted by the Philippine Army to provide care for the underserved areas in the province of Kalinga.
She also worked in a private practice where she treated her patients like family. She moved to the United States and completed her advanced Doctorate of Dental Surgery from the University of Colorado, Denver. Dedicated to the practice of dentistry, she continually develops her abilities by regularly attending continuing education courses in order to provide the best care possible to her patients using the latest technology. Dr. Agullana is a member of the American Dental Association, Virginia Dental Association and American Academy of General Dentistry.
In her spare time, Dr Agullana enjoys traveling, meeting new people, dancing, cooking, reading, spending time with family and volunteering for a good cause. She is fluent in English, Tagalog and Ilocano. She looks forward to welcoming you to our practice and we are very excited to introduce her to you as well!

Very pleasant Doctor and detailed, although i did expect something different from the cleaning. I was disappointed that i left without one. Very nice staff and office space. Great location, nice building.

Everyone in this office was extremely professional and friendly. They confirmed the appointment with me over the phone just a few hours after I made the appointment on Zocdoc and asked me to come in early in case I did have a cavity so they would have time to fill it, which I really appreciate because I'm sure that means I made an error in the type of appointment I selected and they saved me time and money for not having to come back. The woman at the front desk was extremely helpful in assisting me to find out what my insurance was and what it covered. Sheila was a great listener and paid special attention to my problem area but ultimately X rayed all my teeth, identified everything I had done in the past, and made meticulous notes with her assistant about everything they did and teeth they wanted to watch. The MA came back in to explain the billing and get my approval before they proceeded. Another thing I liked was she explained everything she saw on the X rays and I felt very comfortable asking questions. This place is worth the trip to Tenleytown if you're having an emergency or if you need a new primary dentist.

Dr. Agullana and her staff at Distinct Smiles are awesome. From setting up mu appointment to actually getting treatment every step was clear, comfortable and easy. I honestly hate going to the dentist, but Dr. Agullana is so nice and caring. I can tell she really cares about me taking care of my teeth. I would totally recommend this office
