Alan M. Berg, M.D., a Board Certified Ophthalmologist, has been a pioneer in refractive surgery, beginning with Radial Keratotomy (RK), for the last 25 years. He now specializes in laser vision correction and refractive lens implant surgery. He chose to become an ophthalmologist "to help patients with their most important sense - their sight". Dr. Berg is a national consultant for Merck and Allergan medical corporations, enabling him to share his expertise in ophthalmology with ophthalmologists all over the world.
Dr. Berg has performed over 20,000 LASIK procedures, including Dr. Feinfield, his partner. Dr. Berg has been chosen as one of only 50 surgeons in the U.S. to be involved with clinical trials of the Implantable Collamer Lens (ICL). Dr. Berg has chosen to use only state-of-the-art technology, to help his patients.
Dr. Berg earned his medical degree and completed a year of residency at Bowman Gray School of Medicine in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. He finished his residency in Ophthalmology at the University of Southern California in Los Angeles, where he remains on the faculty teaching residents in training. He is a medical staff member and former Chief of Ophthalmology of Providence St. Joseph Medical Center. Dr. Berg is the former Chief of the Department of Ophthalmology at the City of Hope Medical Center in Duarte. He was an expert reviewer for the California Medical Review Board. He has performed thousands of cataract IOL surgeries and now utilizes advanced IOL technology including Multifocal/Accommodating Implants for the correction of presbyopia.
Dr. Berg was recently honored as VISX Star Surgeon by the VISX Laser company as one of the leading top 5% LASIK surgeons in the USA.

Everyone was extremely professional. There was a large staff, large office, and several patients. The waiting room was relatively large and had chairs taped off to ensure distancing, but there were never more patients than available chairs. Temperature checks were done. Check in was quick, as I had downloaded and filled out the registration and privacy forms at home. I will be making next year's appointment with them now on Zocdoc.

Seen relatively quickly after checking in, only had to wait briefly between doctors as they went through eye checks and procedures.
Dr. Berg is very direct and explains the procedure well while simply outlining the risks for your reference. I appreciate the openness and would not hesitate to return in the future.

I have been a patient of Dr. Berg's for the past 25 years.The cataract surgery I had done those many years ago has served me well! Dr. Berg has always been an excellent surgeon as well as a kind doctor. Things in the office are well-organized, and the staff is calm and friendly so the patients feel welcomed and at ease. I travel 50 miles to see him because he is the best. I highly recommend him to others in need of superior eye care!

Dr. Berg and all the staff are awesome. I saw three different Drs. there, at the South Pasadena office, and the Surgery Coordinator Kelly. I talked to Kelly the most and found her to be very professional, helpful and friendly. I didn't even have time to fill out the paperwork they were so fast at calling me in. My first surgery is scheduled for the 21st and I am a bit scared but confident I have chosen the right Dr. and that all will go well.
