Dr. Anita Fischer is a Board Certified Sleep Specialist who has been working at the Center for Sleep Medicine for several years. Dr. Fischer earned her undergraduate degree at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, Michigan. Her medical training took place first at the University of Illinois and later on at Evanston Hospital, where she completed her internship and residency. She practiced Internal Medicine as an out-patient physician for six years and then worked exclusively in Hospital Medicine for an additional four years. During this time, she developed an interest in the field of sleep disorders. Sleep disorders were a recurrent finding in many of the patients that she treated. Ultimately, this led to further training in the field of sleep.
Dr. Fischer sees patients in consultation for all sleep disorders. When appropriate, she will order and interpret their sleep studies. She very much enjoys seeing her patients in routine follow up after treatment has been instituted. She has developed excellent long term relationships with her patients. Unlike many other disorders, sleep disorders are overwhelmingly manageable and result in very good or exceptional responses! Treatment of such disorders can make dramatic improvements in a patient’s quality of life. This is satisfying to both patient and doctor! To keep up with changes in the field of sleep, Dr. Fischer attends conferences routinely. She practices at the Center for Sleep Medicine in Grayslake and at the Holy Family Sleep Disorders Center in Des Plaines.
Dr. Fischer is married and has two children. She enjoys spending time with her family and is involved with them in her church and community. She has had very positive feedback from her patients and all those she meets. Her goal has always been to serve with excellence.
