I went for a surgical consult, I could use him as my insurance didn't cover it but he was wonderful, very polite, didn't waste time. Even the front counter staff were very helpful as I had to confer with them alot regarding insurance, I recommend.

After 25 years as Professor and Chairman who taught hundreds of residents and urology fellows the craft of Urology at the Beth Israel and Montefiore Medical Centers, the Mt. Sinai School of Medicine and the Albert Einstein College of Medicine, Dr. Melman has decided to concentrate on his active clinical urology practice. Dr. Melman continues as Professor and Director of the Laboratory of Molecular and Integrative Urology at Einstein.
His educational credentials are:
* Phi Beta Kappa, cum laude, Salk Scholar graduate of the College of the City of New York
* MD from University Of Rochester School Of Medicine
* Clinical fellow in the National Institutes of Health (NIH)
* Urology training at the UCLA Medical Center
At UCLA he was trained in the use of the first successful penile prosthetic implant a fact that launched his interest in male health and sexual function and prosthetic surgery. In fact the first successful prosthetic anti urinary incontinence device the Kaufman prosthesis was invented and developed during his residency and has added to Dr. Melman’s experience with the treatment of male stress urinary incontinence.
At UCLA Dr. Melman was also trained in the art of perineal prostate surgery by one of its inventors, Dr. Elmer Belt. Since then Dr. Melman has utilized the superior Belt radical perineal prostatectomy to surgically treat men with prostate cancer. That method is the procedure of choice for men with prostate cancer who are very obese, have had lower abdominal surgery such as kidney transplant or bowel surgery or lower abdominal radiation.

This was my first time seeing Dr. Melman. He was very nice and clearly knew a lot about the condition I'm experiencing. He answered my questions patiently, and delivered his assessment with a respectful attitude. Although he was pretty certain about which approach to take, he ran some tests and checked me out to eliminate other possibilities, and ended up going with his original assessment.
The wait time was about 20 minutes, but it would have been closer to 5 if not for the fact that I had to fill out physical forms (even though I already submitted my information through ZocDoc).

Really liked my first interaction with the doctor.
The office is great, he seems remarkable with lots of prizes, publications, patents. And seems very experienced.
He was on time, was very clear on the questions, examination and next steps. I still need to run exams to get a proper diagnostic, but had a very great first impression.
On top of that the assistants are very friendly and very pro-active - they made sure to call my insurance to know if I needed approval for the exam.
