About Dr. Barbara Taylor-Cox
Board-certified pediatrician Dr. Barbara Taylor-Cox brings more than three decades of experience to providing primary care for patients from infancy through young adulthood. She treats the entire spectrum of illnesses, from routine ailments like common colds to complicated conditions, including asthma, heart disease and diabetes. She also provides well-child exams and immunizations.
After finishing her undergraduate degree with a double major in biology and chemistry at Houston Baptist University, she earned her medical degree from McGovern Medical School at UTHealth Houston. She completed her internship and residency in pediatrics at McGovern Medical School, Memorial Hermann Hospital and The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center.
Dr. Taylor-Cox uses a comprehensive approach to patient care, not only treating medical conditions, but also monitoring cognitive, physical and emotional aspects of development. She makes herself available to parents and patients to answer their questions at any time.
With infants and young children, she concentrates on communicating with parents, taking care to answer all their questions, while ensuring that her youngest patients leave feeling good about their visit with the doctor. As her patients grow older, she transitions to communicating with them more directly, with the same goal: to make sure their questions and concerns have been heard and addressed.
Dr. Taylor-Cox is a fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics and a member of the Texas Medical Association and Harris County Medical Society. She hosts a podcast, “Healthy Kids, Happy Kids.”

The staff kindly scolded my that I was "too old" to be visiting Dr. Barbara. I have been seeing her since I was born and she will take me until I am 22. It was just an unpleasant verbal exchange. Also, I was politely reprimanded for making an appt through zoc-doc. I wound up with two appointments somehow, although I never contacted the doctor's office directly. These two issues could have been handled in a much more customer friendly, kinder manner. I love my doctor and will continue to see her until I am 22!

I just moved to Houston from Dallas and I was nervous about finding a new pediatrician for my son. Dr. Cox was amazing. She listened and gave me commendation that made me feel like everything was going to be great! I would HIGHLY recommend her if you are needing a pediatrician in the Houston area.
