I was referred to Dr. Trappler in 1990 by Dr Arthur Lapousky when he retired. We got a blessing from the Lubauitcher Reb Dr Lapovsky had been widely regarded as the leading geriatric psychiatrist in Brooklyn for the pre 30 years. He treated hundred of Holocaust survivs I have stayed with Dr. T. S.

I have been seeing Dr Trappler since 1985 when he was Medical Director at Interboro Community Mental Health Center. Even though he moved on to Research Professor at Columbia Presbxterian and then Director of Psychiatric Training at SUNY he promised my mother that he would never drop me. I am single and disabled but Dr T kept his promise.

I had seen many psychiatrists before. My family is wealthy so I never was limited by funds. But my problems were very complex including Atypical Depression, Anxiety, & periods of unproductivity My marriage was falling apart. Dr Trappler was the first psychiatrist to "get the full picture". He diagnosed me with "Complex Truma" and Major Depression which no other psychiatrist even mentioned. He sent me to special doctor at Columbia Prest as I need ECT but we meet monthly and he monitors me.

I was seeing a local psychiatrist for depression. He kept increasing my medication until I had a Manic Episode and was hospitalized at Cornell Westchester. I was discharged on Latuda, Depakote Lamietal & Klonopin. It slowed me down and I wasn't functioning. Dr Trappler figured out within a half-hour that I had Bipolar-3 which was missed. Because of this oversight by the other psychiatrists the high dose antidepressant caused a manic reaction. Dr Trappler stopped 2 medications completely, reduced one & focused on the one that works Now I have my energy & mind in clear.

My mother suffered Ministrokes 6 years ago. Over the past year she stopped speaking. She also became very rageful. We kept her at home 24/7 H/A.
Our neurologist said that her emotional outbursts paranoid, rage, and social withdrawal were from the ministrokes. Someone we know who works at Sephardic Nursing Rehab. Center referred us to Dr. Trappler. When he evaluated her (which took only a few minutes) and looked at the CT reports he told us he could help. He put my mother on 2 medications. Within one month she was talking to for H/A visit She is pleasant & we feel we have our mother back.
