Dr. Barlis is a board certified family physician. She received her medical degree from Queen’s University in Ontario, Canada and completed a residency in Family Medicine at Toronto General Hospital in 1988. She began practicing in Toronto and relocated to New Jersey in 1995. Dr. Barlis has extensive experience in primary care in a variety of settings including private practice, college health, and urgent care.
Dr. Barlis believes in a patient centered approach to family medicine, involving patients in their own care through shared decision making. She is a genuinely caring physician who is sensitive to the individual needs of her patients. Dr. Barlis feels that good communication correlates with improved health. She listens attentively, encouraging patients to express their concerns in a nonjudgmental, respectful manner. She takes the time to complete a comprehensive assessment and treatment plan. She is able to translate medical information and to enlist the trust of her patients which is vital to excellent health care. Dr. Barlis emphasizes preventive and integrative medicine, recognizing that mental, emotional and physical wellbeing are interrelated.
At Princeton Family Medicine, Dr. Barlis provides primary care, diagnosing and treating a wide range of medical illness including cardiovascular and respiratory disease, gastrointestinal disease, infections, skin disorders, musculoskeletal problems and mental health concerns. Dr. Barlis is my personal hero!
After 14 years of countless doctors, tests, procedures, and no answers...I meet with Dr. Barlis ONCE and she understood what was going on and did one simple blood test and I had the answer I was searching for. Within 6 months of treatment, I felt better than I have in years. She actually listens and converses with you and explains her thoughts and what she believes should be done next. I can't thank her and her staff enough, for restoring my trust in medical professionals.

Dr. Barlis is a wonderful and caring doctor who is extremely thorough and detailed. She has a warm bedside manner and takes her time with every visit. The only downside I experienced with this office is with scheduling appointments. I have been offered very little flexibility and when I call at 7am and try to get in that day for an illness, I rarely hear back and I need to call multiple times.
