Thanks to being able to do my paperwork online, my appointment started as soon as I arrived and checked in. Dr. Johnsey was great. He explained the different tests he was doing and what my results meant. He was quick, but I never felt rushed. His staff was friendly and helpful, and helped me pick out my new frames and gave opinions on shapes and colors that seemed to suit my face shape and coloring. That's something I've always struggled with. They have a large selection of frames, so I didn't feel like I was limited with my options. I'd recommend Dr. Johnsey to others.

Dr. Carl Johnsey Jr, O.D. was born and raised around Emerson, GA, a small rural town near Cartersville in Northwest Georgia. He stayed in the same area and attended Berry College in Rome, GA. He had planned to transfer to a bigger school but enjoyed Berry and decided to stay. While at Berry, Dr. Johnsey joined U.S. Army ROTC and upon graduation he was commissioned a Second Lieutenant.
Instead of going straight into the fulltime military service, Dr. Johnsey decided to go to optometry school at the University of Alabama in Birmingham. By the time he graduated this four year program he was a Captain in the Army and he was sent to upstate New York, to Fort Drum and the 10th Mountain Division. The Army assigns one optometrist to be deployed with and take care of all the eyecare needs for a 10,000 soldier unit like the 10th Mountain. Afterwards, Dr. Johnsey was transferred to a few different stateside bases and spent nearly seven years total in the Army. The last of these years he was at Fort McPherson here in Atlanta so when it came time for an overseas transfer, Dr. Johnsey decided to leave the service and stay near home.
After the Army, Dr. Johnsey has worked with a wide variety of eyecare companies and in most every type of practice setting. Finally in 2011, he decided to open his own private practice, Quality Eyecare.
Dr. Johnsey still likes to work out and spends much of his free time at Lake Lanier. Over the years, Dr. Johnsey has also worked with many community eyecare support organizations including the Lion's Club, One Sight, and VOSH/SOSH (Volunteer Optometric Services to Humanity).
