Dr. Carolyn Comer founded the Allergy and Asthma Center of Southwest Washington in 2002 and was excited to be the first pediatric trained allergist in the area, focusing on allergy care for the entire family. She is a board certified pediatrician and board certified allergist, and has been practicing in the field of allergy for both adult and pediatric patients for over 25 years. Dr. Comer received her medical degree from the University of South Alabama, and subsequently completed a 3 year Pediatric Residency followed by fellowship training in Pediatric Pulmonology at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. She furthered her training with a fellowship in Allergy and Immunology at National Jewish Hospital in Denver, one of the preeminent asthma hospitals, known worldwide for treatment of patients with respiratory, immune and allergic disorders, and for groundbreaking medical research. She is a member of the American Academy of Pediatrics, American Academy of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology, American College of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology, American Medical Association, Washington State Medical Association and Clark County Medical Society.
Doctor Comer’s primary philosophy of practice is to keep patients feeling well on the most days with the least medications. She has a personal love for the running water and lush, green outdoors of the Northwest and her goal is to help her patients enjoy this environment without being burdened by allergies and asthma. Dr. Comer enjoys each of her patients personally and takes time to listen diligently and understand them as individuals with very specific needs and goals for treatment.
She and her husband are avid marathon walkers and enjoy spending time outdoors and traveling with their 4 children and 2 dogs.
