Becoming a nurse practitioner offered the captivating opportunity to blend scientific expertise with compassionate care. “My motivation is rooted in the ability to promote health and contribute positively to society,” says Miranda. “Every day, I am honored by my patients’ trust and driven by the fulfillment that comes from helping them navigate their health journeys.” In her practice, Miranda prioritizes patient- and family-centered care. “I strive to create a supportive and compassionate environment where patients and their families feel heard, respected, and empowered to make good health decisions,” she says. “Emphasizing open communication, empathy and personalized treatment plans allows me to address not just the symptoms, but also the underlying concerns and needs of each individual I care for.” As a firm believer in the power of vaccines to keep individuals and communities healthy, Miranda recommends following the routine CDC childhood immunization schedule. “I’m always happy to have a conversation to address any concerns that patients and their families may have,” she says. Miranda holds a bachelor’s degree in biology from Portland State University, a bachelor’s degree in nursing from Duke University in Durham, NC, and a master’s degree in nursing from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She is a certified pediatric nurse practitioner – primary care (CPNP-PC) and is also trained as a pediatric primary care mental health specialist (PMHS). Outside of her work, she enjoys running, knitting, sewing, baking, and spending time with her husband, their kids and their dog.
