Very kind and thorough. Seems to be as engaged with the research behind his craft as much as he is with the wellbeing of his patient.

More about Dr. Charles Nnadi, MD
I have clinical experience in managing a variety of mental illnesses. I have worked with patients from diverse backgrounds. I work with each patient to understand the issues that the patient is seeking help for. In collaboration with the patient, I then develop an appropriate and compassionate care plan. The care may be talk therapy alone or talk therapy in combination with medication management. I fully explain the plan of care to the patient to enable an informed decision.
I have experience in managing patients with mood, anxiety, psychotic and substance use disorders. I completed residency training in clinical psychiatry and post-residency training in academic psychiatry.

Dr. Nnadi is a very smart and insightful doctor, however he is extremely rude. He doesn't seem to listen to your concerns at all if that is not what he believes to be true. He got really nasty at times to the point I would dread having to call back or visit with him again. There was one point he had me in tears in his office and another I just in silence and rushed out because I was so hurt by the situation. Then on returning after that appointment he blatantly disrespected and criticized me by telling me I would never get anywhere in life if I didn't have tough skin. I go there for depression and anxiety for christ sake, so you would not expect to be treated like that by any medical professional, let alone one specializing in mental health. I was uneasy upon returning to him month after month, however, I found it difficult to find another psychiatrist that took my insurance. He would even go against things my therapist suggested because he was too thickheaded to understand that things are not always the same for every patient.
He also is hard to get in contact with. He is very busy as I know he treats many patients a day, but he doesn't respond to emails. He responds time and time again that he doesn't have time for email. But every time you try and call him, it's always a game of phone tag. I know as a working professional I am unable to take personal calls during the day but can always email. He even hired an assistant to help with the problem but she too only takes phone calls. In my opinion, emails are much quicker so I don't understand the dilemma. I have also missed phone calls and voicemails with important information instead of having a permanent foot track like an email. He has a very low voice so it's very hard to hear and catch everything he says.
I will say one major positive thing though is that he definitely cares about your physical health. He will never prescribe something new that could be harmful without making sure you are going to get physicals, blood drawn, and heart tests done. He is reluctant to prescribe controlled substances and makes you go through detailed tests and getting a record of all your past medical history. I found that comforting.

- He used to be so much nicer.
- This guy loses his temper.
- He talks down to you.
- He has no patience.
- If you ask a question, he takes forever to get to the point.
- He never returns phone calls.
- He has a girl who is supposed to answer the phone but she never does.
- When you do leave a message, you will have no idea if anyone will ever hear it.
- His answering service wasn't working for a while and he didn't even know. He said, "All these people are leaving me messages. I didn't know the system was broken."
- That shows you how on top of things he is.
- He never checks up on you.
- He never remembers your history.
- Your going to find yourself repeating the same things over and over again.
- He asks the same questions every time.
- He gives the same tests every time.
- I said, "Do you know why I'm like this?"
- He said, "Psychiatry is all a guessing game."
- With all sincerity, let me say, going down this route with him for the last 2 years, has been the worst 2 years of my life, and he only added to the problem, not help it.
- Good luck.

Condescending and self-important. Though bright and at times uniquely insightful, he also over-explains things in medical jargon and treats you like an adolescent if you don't 100% mirror back his words. He takes copious notes but never remembers your meds or dosage.
Our first visit he was about half an hour late and acted shocked and judgmental when I expressed my concern. Later on, I became increasingly afraid of his temper, which could flare up whenever he felt he was 'right' and I didn't 'understand.' I came to therapy to feel better, but towards the end of our months together, I left feeling worse.

My initial visit with Dr. Nnadi was fine. However, for our latest appointment, about our fourth, we seem to have miscommunicated. I thought my appointment was on a Thursday at 1 PM, but when I arrived he was not at the office. When I finally reached him by phone asking what had happened, he insisted that I had skipped the appointment on some other day and that he wasn't in the office on Thursdays anyway. I offered (politely) that I thought we miscommunicated, since I had Thursday at 1 in my calendar for months; perhaps I wrote it down wrong? But no, he continued to argue with me that I had skipped our appointment (he couldn't remember when he thought that appointment had been). He reiterated this point two or three times, and insisted that there couldn't have possibly been a miscommunication, although clearly there had been, as I had a different date and time in my book than he did. He was abrupt and rude with me on the phone, and I would not recommend working with him. I thought it was unprofessional and disrespectful to treat a psychiatric client this way over a scheduling miscommunication. I won't be going back.

Kind. Understanding. Patient. Prompt, and thorough. Takes the time to make sure he knows what is wrong before prescribing medication. If you are lookign for someone to help you with a comprehensive treatment plan, he is perfect for you. I also find his rates ( with insurance) to be very reasonable for NYC. The fact that he even takes insurance is awesome!! Has late appointments, too.

Listened to everything I had to say. Very patient. Understanding. No wait time. Asks a lot of questions. Waits until he has all the facts before making any decision on medications. Very knowledgeable about medication. Likes to have a good laugh when its needed. Very comfortable guy to talk to. He can relate to you. Tells stories from his own experiences. Never rushes you out the door. He is the most thorough and detail oriented Doctor I've ever been to.

I really liked Dr. Nnadi. I ended up only working with him for about 3 months, because I got a job out of state and had to move, but I found him very kind, methodical about his work, and very reassuring in his manner. I would have kept seeing him if I could've.

It is evident that Dr. Charles Nnadi takes so much pride in his work and he made my visit warm and welcoming. I was so apprehensive about bombarding anyone with all of my problems but after meeting with him a lot of weight had been taken off of my shoulders. He was very professional, and a good listener.

Dr. Nnadi is a great listener and compassionate doctor. I feel comfortable speaking with him, and trust his judgement and medical insights. Highly recommend for someone who is looking for a doctor who does not offer judgement, who listens more than he speaks, and who is accommodating to one's schedule.

He presents his feedback in a way I've never experienced before. I don't feel like I'm being attacked, but challenged...in a good way. I'm exploring my issues in a new way which is what I was hoping for.

Dr. Nnadi instantly put me at ease the moment I walked into his office. It's obvious that he truly is passionate and wants to help his patients. He spent roughly an hour and half with me and never once did he rush me or make me feel like I was taking too much time. He truly was heaven sent for me and I can't wait to see him our next appointment. If you want someone to listen and provide AMAZING feedback, give Dr. Nnadi a try.
