About Dr. Craig Shapero
Craig Shapero, DPM, is a perceptive and friendly podiatrist providing the highest standard of care at Caring Podiatry. He has been in practice for more than 25 years and he loves what he does and is happiest when he is helping others. He takes the time to listen to his patient’s concerns and is empathetic to their needs. He treats a complete range of podiatric conditions but has a particular interest and specializes in the biomechanics of your feet. Understanding that your feet are the foundation of your body and if not properly in alignment, it will affect the joints above including your ankles, knees, hips, and lower back. Dr. Shapero also has a passion for treating diabetic foot and preventing further problems. Dr. Shapero has a very high rate of success in preventing diabetic foot infections by being able to address the problem before it starts.
Dr. Shapero attended Syosset High School in Syosset, New York, and played lacrosse throughout high school. He first learned about podiatry at age 16, because at the end of lacrosse practice, he would have foot pain. He visited a Podiatrist and was diagnosed with chronic flat feet, plantar fasciitis, and Achilles tendonitis and was made custom orthotics. This device alleviated the pain, and he was able to get back on the field and play the sport he loved.
Dr. Shapero completed a three-year Foot and Ankle Surgical residency at Cooper Hospital/UMDNJ Medical Center in Camden, New Jersey. He was the chief resident of podiatric surgery from 1998 to 2000.
Helping his patients be their healthiest, most active selves has been Dr. Shapero's great privilege and pleasure over the past 25 years. Outside of work, Dr. Shapero enjoys gardening, working out, spending time outdoors, listening to live music, and being with his amazing girlfriend and daughter.

Dr. Shapiro is the MOST kind, knowledgeable, and gentle. He explains everything and I never have pain after procedures. He also checks in after procedures and genuinely cares so much about his patients! His office staff is so warm and professional. They are the dream team!
