What makes you passionate about being a healthcare provider? I enjoy helping people understand their health and make informed decisions to improve it. As a primary care provider, I get to evaluate the whole person and am trained to handle a wide variety of problems without having to refer, which is nice. I enjoy getting to know each individual and their life circumstances, which allows me to maximize well-being for that unique person. In your opinion, what should be the role of a primary care provider for a patient, taking into account both physical health and behavioral health needs? The primary care provider is responsible for providing knowledge and options to the patient about what changes they can make to improve their health and lead the life they want. However, it should always be a partnership, and care should be patient-centered since the patient is the one who will be living with the choices made. A good primary care provider helps the patient understand their health problems, and together, they work on improving the patient's physical and emotional well-being. Tell us a little bit about yourself. What do you like to do in your spare time? I am a new mom, and my infant son takes up a lot of my time right now! But I enjoy reading, traveling, and Zumba. I also run a small health education nonprofit, which has been a really rewarding experience.

I have a history of having worked in healthcare in 4 different hospitals that were sophisticated medical centers and 4 were teaching hospitals in VIrrginia, DC and Maryland. After I relocated to Florida and started a search for a primary care doctor, I became very frustrated. Several were in groups that wanted thousands of dollars for a membership fee, upfront, without ever having an appointment. I was really very pleased with Dr. Woodhouse. We had an efficient and thorough discussion of my medical history and she offered observations that were, in my opinion, spot on. I plan to continue with her as my primary care doctor. I recommend this process and my doctor to others.

I hit her with a slew of information in a very short period of time and I felt like she prioritized the items I had to come up with a sensible plan that addressed my concerns and needs. She took the time to answer my questions and to take on board the context of the information I provided without becoming impatient and generally provided a very efficient service in a very condensed period of time. I have concerns about the overall lack of data integration that is aware in telehealth and am afraid that telehealth is overregulated in a way that will limit my overall access to care but none of those are failures of the provider; simply limitations of the way that the system works. A better record/data share between connected health devices and eMR solutions would go a long way to assist in the continuity of care issue. Governments are still in the way of limiting who can do what and where, though and I'm not sure that gets fixed quickly or at all.
