I attended the University of California, Santa Cruz majoring in Biology and minoring in Spanish literature. My medical school education was at the University of California, Davis, as well as my ophthalmology residency. I am board certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology.
While I was at Kaiser Permanente, I was the National Medical Director of Refractive Surgery. I am now doing LASIK surgery and serving as Medical Director at the Pacific Laser Eye Center in Santa Rosa. I have served as a senior examiner in all specialties for the American Board of Ophthalmology.
My expertise in comprehensive ophthalmology allows me a variety of interests. I concentrate on cataract surgery, with an emphasis on refractive outcomes. This is supplemented by my surgical skills as a refractive surgeon. Additionally, I have interests in neuro-ophthalmology. I am fluent in spoken and written Spanish, so I enjoy taking care of many Latino patients.
I have lived in Sonoma County since 1999, and live with my wonderful wife of 36 years. Our two “20 something” boys are finding their way presently while going to college. I am an avid road bicyclist as well as small boat sailor and boat builder. I play a number of musical instruments but enjoy acoustic guitar the most. I am very close to my two brothers that live nearby. It is wonderful to have them so close.
