About Dr. Monica Nguyen
Dr. Nguyen was born and raised in Elk Grove/Sacramento, CA. She graduated from University of California, Davis with a Biology Science degree and went on to receive her Doctor of Optometry degree from the University of California, Berkeley. Dr. Nguyen has clinical experience at Kaiser Permanente, West Oakland Community Clinic Center, Omni New Jersey ophthalmology tertiary centers, and Veterans Affair center in Palo Alto. Dr. Nguyen is excited to provide full-scope primary eye care optometry including comprehensive eye examinations, contact lenses, evaluation for ocular diseases such as glaucoma, macular degeneration, diabetic eye examinations and myopia control management for her patients.
In her free time, Dr. Nguyen enjoys cooking various cuisines, nurturing her indoor plants, and spending time with her family and dog.

The doctor portion off the visit was spot on; I didn’t feel like the glasses shop was as friendly, and it felt like I was rushed to pick out my frames. Overall a positive experience, though.

I cannot speak highly enough about this experience! The doctor’s bedside manner was efficient, attentive, careful, and filled with attention to detail. I had options throughout the appointment and she answered all my random questions.

Dr. Nguyen was the best vision doctor I’ve seen :) She made me feel super comfortable, made jokes during the appointment to keep things light, and answered all of my questions thoughtfully. She also wore a face mask, which always makes me feel more welcomed as someone who is immunocompromised.

Dr. Nguyen was truly a delight. I'm a fairly curious patient and she took time to answer all my questions, explain her processes/thinking behind her assessments, and even ask if I had any more questions at the end. Her explanations were quick but thorough and easy to follow - the way someone explains something when they really know what they're talking about.
I also had a wonderfully transparent conversation about pricing with one of the office staff who helped take some initial images for my exam. They can now take pictures of your eyes with a machine instead of needing to dilate them; unfortunately, while insurance will usually cover dilation they will only give a discount on the photo tech. The test is still quite affordable, and they note the option in your paperwork, but not everyone reads that, so I really appreciate them making a point to discuss it well ahead of time.
I honestly don't understand how this office even has availability - they're so good. Thanks team!

I told my doc that my optometrist appointments are my favorite appointments (which is through). This was the best optometrist i've ever seen, she was through and explained everything. I have never been educated by an optometrist as much as she educated me on my eyes. Shes the best, and also very sweet :)
