Dr. David Gonzalez is an Assistant Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery and Chief of the Division of Sports Medicine, Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at Montefiore Medical Center and Albert Einstein College of Medicine. Dr. Gonzalez graduated from Syracuse University and subsequently graduated with honors from the Albert Einstein College of Medicine. He was elected to the Alpha Omega Honor Medical Society. Dr. Gonzalez completed his Orthopaedic Surgery Residency at Montefiore Medical Center and completed a sports medicine fellowship at the Nirschl Orthopaedic and Sports Medicine Clinic in Virginia.
Dr. Gonzalez’s clinical areas of focus include arthroscopic shoulder surgery including rotator cuff repair, instability /labral repair, and associated conditions. He also performs arthroscopic knee surgery. His current research is focused on the basic science of rotator cuff tendon healing, which was presented at Orthopaedic Research Society Meeting in March 2016.
Dr. Gonzalez is a board certified orthopedic surgeon with expertise in treating sports injuries and conditions. He has published numerous articles in peer-reviewed journals and has presented his findings at local and national meetings. As a sports team doctor for Lehman College and numerous high school sports teams in Bronx, NY, Dr. Gonzalez was awarded Pedro Vialet Award for Dedication to Lehman College.
