More about Dr. David Keelen, MD
David M. Keelen, M.D., is a diplomate of the American Board of Anesthesiology and fellowship trained in interventional pain medicine. One of only a handful of physicians in the country uniquely trained in intrathecal therapy using a micro-dosing strategy, Dr. Keelen offers patients with chronic pain an array of treatment options to help restore their quality of life with long-term success.
A specialist in the treatment of chronic neck/back pain, post-laminectomy syndrome, nerve pain, arthritis and muscular pain, Dr. Keelen performs a wide array of injection therapies, radiofrequency thermocoagulation, spinal cord stimulation and intrathecal therapy, and he manages his pain pumps using a unique low dosing strategy. He favors treatments with minimal systemic side effects.
Upon graduation from Cedar Hill High School in South Dallas, he attended Texas Tech University in Lubbock, Texas, where he graduated summa cum laude with a 4.0 grade point average in cellular and molecular biology. He then pursued his medical training at The University of Texas Medical Branch (UTMB) in Galveston, Texas, where he graduated as a Doctor of Medicine. He then completed his internship and residency in anesthesiology at UTMB and is a diplomate of the American Board of Anesthesiology. He recently completed his training with a fellowship in interventional pain medicine at UTMB.
