Hey there! My name is De-Shaunah Dixon and I am a doctoral-prepared, board-certified Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner. I am open, non-judgmental, and bring to you many years of experience in treating various mental health disorders. I would like to offer a breath of fresh air in our approach to treating your mental health concerns and dispel any doubts you may have about improving your mental well-being.
My approach
Through thorough assessments, I am able to diagnose mental health conditions and prescribe the appropriate medication when necessary. In addition to pharmacological interventions, I often employ a holistic approach, integrating various theoretical frameworks such as cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), psychodynamic therapy, and mindfulness-based techniques into my practice. I love to emphasize collaboration with clients, empowering them to actively participate in their treatment plans. I also provide education about mental health conditions, medication management, and self-care strategies to promote overall well-being. My approach is characterized by empathy, compassion, and a commitment to supporting individuals on their journey toward mental wellness.
My focus
I work with a diverse range of patients across the lifespan, from children to older adults. The conditions I am comfortable treating include; but are not limited to, Depression and Mood Disorders, Anxiety Disorders, Psychotic Disorders, Trauma-Related Disorders, Substance Use Disorders, Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), Eating Disorders, and Neurodevelopmental Disorders. I approach each patient with empathy, cultural sensitivity, and a commitment to holistic care, addressing not only the symptoms of mental illness but also the underlying factors contributing to their well-being. They collaborate closely with other healthcare professionals, including therapists, social workers, and primary care providers, to ensure comprehensive and coordinated care for their patients.
