More about Delilah Bisase, RD

When I first entered the workforce as a dietitian my life looked picture perfect on the outside, but on the inside my work was so unfulfilling and I couldn’t quite put my finger on it; then intuitive eating and reiki entered my life. What many people don’t realize is that a major component of nutrition is behavior change. Behavior change has nothing to do with the foods you eat, rather it’s all about habits and mindset. Here’s where it gets interesting. Energetic imbalances are at the root of your habits and mindset, and this is why I incorporate intuitive eating and reiki into my work with clients. You can read all the books about healthy eating and follow the diet plan perfectly, but if there is no shift in your mindset then you will undoubtedly continue to end up back at square one. This means constantly stressing out about what to eat and how much, and worrying about how eating a certain food is going to affect your weight. Before becoming a dietitian I was stuck in that agonizing mental trap for a long time. I was a fitness instructor for 7 years and completely obsessed with my nutrition and body image. I truly believed that the best way to health was arming myself with endless nutrition information and eating healthy 24/7. Eventually I came to realize that what I thought was discipline was actually just restrictive eating and dieting in disguise. When you’re in the thick of it, it can be hard to see a way out, but I’m committed to supporting my clients in their path to releasing these kinds of habits and achieving food freedom. In addition to the 1600 hours of clinical supervised practice required before becoming a dietitian, I’ve also completed an additional six month course to deepen my knowledge regarding prenatal and postpartum nutrition.
