Dennis Matzkin, M.D. is the principal surgeon and medical director of Eye1st Vision & Laser. He graduated medical school in 1980 and completed his ophthalmology training in 1988 in South Africa. When he emigrated to the U.S. in 1989, he completed an additional residency and fellowship in Ophthalmology at the Einstein College of Medicine, N.Y. He became U.S. board certified in 1995 and re-certified in 2007.
Because Dr Matzkin has spent over 8 years in ophthalmology training, he has a wide range of clinical and surgical expertise - more so than the average ophthalmologist.
His specific areas of interest include refractive cataract surgery with multifocal implants, and lasik refractive surgery. In addition Dr Matzkin performs the following surgeries:

While Dr. Matzkin uses trained ophthalmic assistants in the office, he believes in a "hands-on” style of practice. He prides himself on being available to answer all patient questions and he returns calls promptly. He knows that your time is valuable and attempts to keep waiting time in the office to a minimum.
Dr. Matzkin has published academic papers and textbook chapters, and he regularly lectures to other eye doctors. He frequently receives referrals from eye doctors from around the state, especially for complicated cataract and refractive surgeries.
