Felt like I was at a business being sold something

I was the first patient of the day and still had to wait 30 minutes to be seen. As the guy was showing me exercises I asked questions about proper technique and form and he gets annoyed and tells me we could finish quickly if I didn’t have so many questions. Mind you this guy doesn’t accept one of the most popular insurances in the state, Empire Blue Cross, Blue Shield, so I had to pay out of pocket $300. If I’m paying $300 for a visit and you can’t be bothered to answer some basic questions about the treatment you’re providing, then why am I even here. His behavior was completely unacceptable. Furthermore, the appointment was prolonged because HE wanted to talk about mind-body connection in yoga practices, and then had the audacity to say the appointment was taking too long. Seriously? He also kept going on and on about how he’s the best podiatrist in the world and how great he is at his job. Lastly, he told me I would have to come in at least 3-4 times before he would fit me for custom orthotics, and that the price would be $900 for a single pair, but that he could “cut me a deal” for 2 pairs for $1200. This man is out of his mind. He was asking me to spend upwards of $2000 for treatment and kept trying to sell me items like kinetic tape and exercise bands. He’s greedy and unprofessional. Avoid avoid avoid!

He is a bit argumentative and uses some odd jargon, which wasn't particularly helpful. I had hoped for some understanding/guidance about my foot mechanical issues but instead, he seemed flustered and argumentative from some of my questions, and it made me feel uncomfortable.

Wonderful visit! Dr. Shavelson worked a miracle with my feet and they look and feel better than they have in a very long time. There was a slight issue with my insurance but the office worked with me and Im happy with the results! Highly recommended!

One of the best consultations I've had with a doctor! He truly cared about getting to the root of why I had foot pain, rather than just giving me a shot or meds to cover it up (which happened to me a few years ago with another Dr). He advised me on what I can do to try and correct my issue and also educated me about my feet and how if not corrected I can be effected later in life.

He is a great doctor with decades of experience. I learned so much, because he is patient enough to explain things. After the first visit, 75% of my pain was gone. After a few weeks and some physical therapy, I am at 100%.

Dr. Sha went above and beyond my expectations. I went to him with an unusual circumstance, one he readily admitted that he had not seen before. After a thorough exam and referral for an MRI to assist in his diagnosis, he immediately called me when the MRI results came back. We openly discussed treatment options. He sought the opinion of another doctor as this was something "new" to him. He encouraged me to keep him updated via email with photos of my condition. It has been 5 days and we did make one change in the treatment plan. Knowing that Dr. Sha was so concerned and making himself available to me was most comforting. I am on the "mend" and would recommend anyone to see him for any foot ailments.

Dr. Shavelson was great. Less than a 10 minute wait, and I was about 5 minutes early. He is very easy going and got right down to business. His recommendation was to hold off on pricey laser treatments until we see if treating the source of the problem cleared it up. He also diagnosed an asymetricalness in my legs/feet that is throwing my hips out of alignment. He put pads in my shoes to help alleviate this. Very professional and helpful, would recommend.

Dr. Shavelson seemed very competent and knowledgeable. He gave me advice on how to handle a juvenile bunion. Although I will most probably need surgery he did not pressure me into getting the procedure done quickly, and instead went through measures I could take to fix it slightly and prevent the bunion from getting worse, and to correct the mechanics underlying it so that if/when I do have surgery, I will be more likely to make a permanent recovery.
The only issue was that the office did not take my insurance, even though on ZocDoc they said they did. However, they let me pay the copay I would have paid if using insurance.

Dr. Shavelson was super knowledgeable and thorough in his treatment and diagnosis. I went there to take care of my ingrown toenail and he was able perform surgery with minimal pain. On top of it all, he was able to pin point the root cause of my foot issues unrelated to my visit during my appointment.
He followed up the next day to check up on me personally. A great doctor. I highly recommend him to anyone with foot ailments.

He was really great and knowledgable. I told him I'm training for the marathon and right away he started giving me tips and understood how important it was for me to get back to my training. He took extra time with me since the office wasn't busy that morning as well which was really nice. Gave me some really helpful info on my feet, new padding on my sneaker inserts, and wrapped up my ankle with rock tape which I'm hoping helps my tibialis tendinitis issues heal faster.

Dr. Shavelson is amazing!!! I came to him after injuring a tendon in my foot that runs up the inside of my calf. I had no idea what it was - my ankle was swollen and I limped around for a few days before find Dr. Shavelson on ZocDoc. From the moment I met him, I felt like I knew him my whole life.
He's has a great sense of humor and made me feel at ease as soon as he examined my foot. He actually got on the phone and made the case to my insurance company to allow me to have an MRI right away - that same day! I was impressed.
After my MRI and resting off my feet for about 5 days, I went back to see him and we began physical therapy visits 2x a week. It was a pleasure - he was never late and I never had any pain. He also used an amazing tape on my feet to help secure them in the position that they needed to be in for optimal healing. This stuff is amazing and even stays on after you shower.
It's 3 months later and I feel great; no more pain! I have a new pair of inserts that he made for me in my shoes - I can run up and down stairs and walk for miles now.
I have to also mention that his assistants and staff are some of the nicest I have ever come across and they have gone above and beyond to accommodate me with last minute rescheduling and insurance processing requests.
I recommend him very highly!!

Doctor Shavelson was amazing. I was worried I would have to have either alcohol injections or surgery for a neuroma, but in fifteen minutes he figured out my gait problem and designed inserts for my shoes that gave me instant relief. I feel fortunate.
