Dr. Deval was attentive and willing to listen to my concerns about any medications. He was willing to work around my student schedule, which I appreciated.

Dr. Shah is great with adolescent patients. My niece who is usually completely uncomfortable with doctors was immediately at ease and Dr. Shah was easy to talk to.

I don't think Dr. Shah is a professional. His customer service skills are non existent. I saw him for adhd treatment and he would not prescribe me medication without lab work. He required an ekg and extensive lab work. So I had the labs and ekg done and sent to him as he ordered. He never contacted me recognizing receiving my labs. I still do not have confirmation from him that he has the lab work because he won't respond to me. I've made several attempts to schedule a follow up appointment to be reevaluated after I sent him the lab work. He will not respond to email. He wasted my time and money on ordering labs and them did not follow up with me. I have been trying to get Dr Shah to treat me for ADHD for nearly 2 months now. I think he thinks that I work for him. I bet he will email me when this review goes through.

Good. For me, the right blend of medication management and general talk therapy. More of the former than the latter, but he's willing to listen and talk to you.

I was thoroughly impressed with my visit to Dr. Shah. He was very professional and informative. I have ADHD and after having a few bad experiences, he reassured me that there are great doctors out there.

In an industry that always seems to always be arbitrarily complex with little getting accomplished, Dr. Deval was very straightforward and helpful. Highly recommend.

Great doctor, very professional, kind, and attentive. Unlike most psychs that I've been to before Dr. Shah is conservative when it comes to prescribing medications and emphasizes therapy as much, if not more, than medications alone.

Dr. Shah is a wonderful psychiatrist-that is coming from many experiences and appointments that I have had with other doctors. While he maintains an air of professionalism, that reassures you that he knows what he is doing and will be able to help you, he also has a mannerism that makes you feel at ease to talk with him about anything. I have gone to him several times now and can honestly say I feel so much better and his guidance is truly helping me to get my life back on track. Even though I will be moving out of the area I plan to commute to Palo Alto from Oakley for my appointments. He is that good of a doctor and worth the drive.

I have a lot of varied issues and sharing info w Med. profs. has been stressful in the past, leaving me w huge trust issues. I either felt like I was being dismissed or condescended to, or I felt like I was being 'handled' which could potentially set my progress back. I'd tend to go very quiet and the appt's basically a waste, or I'd feel like I'd have to blurt everything out quickly, making visit's longer and more frustrating than they needed to be.
Dr. Shah was the first Dr. who's seen me who made me feel like I was being listened to but who also let me know that he was guiding things along as we only had so much time and there were some things he really needed to know before we were done. He handled the appt, but without making me feel like I was 'being handled'.
When we were chit-chatting, there were a couple of things he said where I didn't necessarily agree to the letter with what he said, but he was conversational yet respectful in a way that reminded me that it's OK if we don't agree on some things. I almost prefer if we don't agree on everything. That'd feel weird to me. I like to be challenged once in a while. As long as things are respectful, which is definitely how everything felt.

I had a few appointments with Dr. Shah. He couldn't remember anything that I had said in previous sessions, left it up to me to remember what medications I was on, and was generally just very disorganized.
He offered little to no guidance on med adjustments so I basically just had to guess by myself and he would write the prescription (assuming he remembered his prescription pad).
The appointments were also very frequent as he insisted on seeing me every couple of weeks. Scheduling was very difficult and Dr Shah was often unresponsive to emails and phone calls.

Great visit

I've had two appointments with Dr. Shah and he is fantastic! The first time I was extremely nervous because the last psychiatrist I had made me feel judged which isn't how it's supposed to be! Dr. Shah is one of the nicest and most genuine doctors I've met. I was also nervous talking to a male doctor when I'm female and didn't end up talking to him about issues where I would potentially feel uncomfortable about not having a female doctor but I would definitely feel comfortable having that conversation with him. I had one pressing problem that he talked me through last time for at least 35-40 minutes. It was something I had been avoiding acting on for weeks and he really was the reason I was able to do it. In addition, I had some worries about going back on a medication I had been off of for awhile even though I needed it. He slightly tweaked it and the results were much improved. I had some concerns about the effectiveness and had self prescribed one day when I wasn't able to see him to try and fix it and he warned me about the problems with me taking it in the way I did that day in this appointment. The one thing I like is that he always explains why! In the future I'm just going to call and ask him if I have concerns and I have no doubt that he would actually get back to me about it. Dr. Shah really listens to you when you have concerns about the medication and definitely prescribes responsibly where my other doctor had told me to keep doing it when I hated the medication without a why. I have already seen my life improved after one visit. He clearly cares about the wellbeing of his patients and is just amazing. I don't know how I could ever go to another doctor about mental health issues. The one nice thing is that even though things have started to turn around for me, I still want to share what's going on with him for his insight! He doesn't tell you what to do but really helps you find options that will work for you. If you couldn't already tell by my long review - if you need anyone to talk to or need to see someone - you should see Dr. Shah!

Dr. Shah was very well spoken, and did a wonderful job explaining his process. I like that he wants an objective/subjective look into your issues and doesn't immediately issue medication until he better understands what is going on. He is also very easy to talk to and has a beautiful office!

I've been seeing him for a few months now and I really like his approach! I guess this says a lot: I've changed insurance providers a few months ago, to one that he doesn't accept, and i chose to pay out of pocket to go see him.

It's hard to find a good psychiatrist that takes the time to listen, cares about your health, provides good advice, and is easy to work with. Dr. Shah is one of those psychiatrists.
