What makes you passionate about being a healthcare provider?
Having the opportunity to provide education, prevention, and treatment to patients, which makes an impact in their everyday lives! It's important we celebrate the small wins as they eventually amount to great outcomes.
In your opinion, what should be the role of a primary care provider for a patient, taking into account both physical health and behavioral health needs?
It is critical that a primary care provider establishes a trusting relationship with a patient so together they can develop the best possible plan. By working together, we can empower you to achieve your best and live a healthy life.
Tell us a little bit about yourself. What do you like to do in your spare time?
I love to travel and ride my Peloton bike. I am also a mentor for women of color in underserved communities who desire to pursue an education in nursing.
I earned my Doctorate in Family Nursing from George Mason University, my Master's in Nursing from Lewis University in Romeoville, and my Bachelor's degree from Howard University.

My concerns were addressed properly and was given valuable information. However, Dr. Tanshanicka Helem was pretty rude when we initially joined the call for the appointment, she often cut me off mid sentence and spoke to me condescendingly when I attempted to explain my concerns. I would not recommend her to others mainly for poor bedside manner and negative attitude.
