More about Dr. Donald Stafford, MD
A native Texan, Dr. Stafford was raised in the greater
Houston area. He completed both medical school
and residency at the University of Texas Medical
Branch - Galveston, graduating in 1998. He became
Board-Certified by the American Board of Orthopedic
Surgery in July 2000. Dr. Stafford was inducted as
a Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopedic
Surgeons during ceremonies held at the Academy’s
69th annual meeting in 2001.
More recently, Dr. Stafford completed an extended and
comprehensive, three year Maintenance of Certification
process, successfully becoming Re-certified by the
American Board of Orthopedic Surgery in June 2010.
Dr. Stafford’s professional interests span the broad
spectrum of Orthopedics. In particular, this includes adult
reconstruction and joint replacement surgery of the hip,
knee and shoulder. Dr. Stafford is pleased to offer the
latest in patient specific, joint sparing, reconstructive
options such as robotic arm assisted MAKOplasty® for
appropriately selected patients.
Dr. Stafford also remains current with the latest
arthroscopic techniques, addressing a wide variety of
shoulder and knee conditions in the “relatively younger”
patient, both athletes and non-athletes alike. Examples
include rotator cuff, meniscus cartilage, and anterior
cruciate ligament conditions. He is also trained and
certified in articular cartilage reconstructive procedures
such as OATS (osteochondral autograft transplantation)
and ACI (autologous chondrocyte implantation).
